7 Places to Submit Your Scrapbooking Ideas, Cards and Layouts (aka How to use your kits!)

It’s the start of a new year and time to get back into scrapping our muse, instead of making gifts. If you have some time tonight, join us on the message board for a small community crop. Now without further ado, here are some fun places to submit your layouts, cards and projects to - get your kits out and scrap!

1.) Our card contest!

2.) December’s layout contest entry date is extended to January 5^th.

3.) Make a card… or 8 for Card Maker Magazine. According to their guidelines – which you should read here – they take up to eight card submissions per bi-monthly issue. Time to get those cards made.

4.) And if you have got some time before the 4^th of the month, Creating Keepsakes is looking for two things, both based on using just paper, for budget purposes. I have an idea that meets these requirements, ‘Do you have a great way to use up paper scraps, budget tips on making the most of each sheet of paper, tips on creating your own background paper, new and interesting ways to use die-cut paper, ideas for quick and easy pages, tips for combining paper patterns, other great tips for using cardstock and paper?’ I think I will send it in! They also have two ongoing calls that you can work on.

5.)Cards Mag has the current call, deadline January 10th:

Card Sketch Contest #2 - Deadline: January 20, 2010

Here is the nitty gritty rules for those in the blog-o-sphere:

1.) Follow the sketch and make your card.

2.) Post a picture of your card on your blog with this message - “My entry for the LPS Blog Card Sketch Contest.”

3.) You can say whatever else you want in the post, but you need to have that sentence with the link to the blog in order to qualify for the contest. Then come back here and post a comment to this blog post with a link to your card post. I will check it out and assign you a number for the random drawing.

And the rules for our members:

1.) If you do all of the above, you’ll get one chance to win. Just like everyone else in the blog-o-sphere.

2.) For a second chance to win post a picture of the card here on our message board, but it has to have been made with 85% of any of the LPS December kits, to get the chance to win. You can make this the same card or you can make one for your blog and one for the MB. It’s up to you.

3.) All entries will be assigned a number and the winner will be picked at random – possibly by my 7-year-old out of a hat.

Friday Freebie Snowflake Digi Stamp

We already have quite a bit of snow up here in the North… and it’s blowing everywhere today! So I played with my graphic program this morning and made you all a snowflake for your winter greeting cards or layouts. I think I’m going to print mine out on heavy card stock and glitterize it with some shimmers or some other glitter product from Tim Holtz. And then I'm going to match it up with the papers I'm getting in my LPS January Kit! We’d love to see what you do with yours, just leave the link to a picture below in the comments to a blog post where you post it or upload it in our gallery.

I know all of you card makers are checking the blog to see who won the November Card Sketch Contest and what it is they have won... well, you need to wait until the 5th, which is good news if you still need to make your card, you have until the 4th. Looking at my calendar, I have too much scheduled for the 1st of each month. So, on the 5th of the month - every month - will be the day of the announcement.

Mondays ARE Better than Fridays - Freebie

I firmly believe that Friday gets way too much credit. Srsly. What is the big deal anyway? I think Monday should get more credit. On Mondays you can always start anew, isn’t that cool? That’s why I’m posting the Friday Freebie on Monday. Yup, that’s why….

We had talked a bit about digi stamps on the mb. They are stamps that are digital images and you print them out on to your card stock. One digi stamp store I like for a monthly freebie – and I have purchased from them before - DigiStamp Boutique's Freebie. She has some cute designs that are easy to add color to.

6 Really Cool Things to Do with Your November Kits

The kits are arriving at our members' doorsteps and everyone is enjoying their yumminess! But you can’t just stare at the paper forever – you need to make something really cool out of it that you can keep forever. (yes, Rhonda, I said it again, lol)

LPS Members – Confirm Your PayPal Accounts, Please

PayPal offers both buyers and sellers protection against fraud on the internet. But there are rules that need to be followed in order for sellers to take advantage of these benefits. The most important rule PayPal imposes is to only ship to a confirmed address, or wait until the transaction totally clears the account before shipping. Because LPS needs to use this PayPal protection - as any smart internet company would - we are asking all of our members to confirm their addresses. Here’s how to make sure your address is confirmed:

Under My Account, go to Profile --> Add or Edit Address
Then check the Status, if it says confirmed, perfect!

If not, please read how to get a confirmed address on PayPal.com. Your shipment will be sent as soon as your money has cleared into the LPS bank account.

Finding Friday Freebies - Scrapbook Fonts

If you are like me, you enjoy finding freebies on the Net. I could say I’m slightly addicted to finding scrapbooking freebies – cuz I collect them ;-) – but I feel that is 'understood' between scrappers. The best thing about my little addiction will be that you get to benefit from it!

This week, I was send an email from a font company called ScrapNFonts.com that I’ve enjoyed purchasing from, cute fonts can be found there. Now, they have placed some new fonts in their free section for a limited time, I don’t know how long. There is an example of my favorite free font they are offering below. It is called the Scrap Color Me. Here is a direct link to their free area.

I also may use the LD Wedding one with the LPS Mega Kit for November and do a formal page of my grandparents wedding... what do you think??

Life Preserver's Club Online Scrapbook Crop: They came. They cropped. They were INSPIRED!

Life Preserver's Club Dare to be Inspired Crop was a blast! There were challenges, there were make-and-takes and there were scrappers cropping 24/7. RAKS were given... and taken. Lots of fun was had by all – and lots of scrapbooking was done. Each and every challenge gave Life Preserver's Club members and guests reason to make beautiful things with their scrapbooking supplies.

The crop started with a early bird sketch challenge where we were blessed with the most inspiring original sketch by Stephanie Vaughn of ScrapSketch.com and ended with a Kill a Kit challenge to help all of those that needed to use up their supplies. Oh, and did I mention the 13 other challenges the waaay coool LPS Design Team put together? What a fun weekend!

Crazy times on the Message Board

Last week was CRAZY on the message board! The Big Scrapper House contest is in it's final stages and last week we had to scrap as much as we could to get as many points as we could as a team. The Red Team won, but only by a fingernail. But be sure to check out the work in the Gallery-it's FLOODED with inspiration!

The end of August. By now I should be anticipating packing the kits for September this weekend. Am I? NO...I have only received the Ribbon Kits and the patterned paper for the Mini. Apparently "show orders" are pushing everybody else's orders to the side. :( SO, please be patient with me, as I try and get the kit goodies sent asap.

We've been getting our scrap on in the Big Scrapper House! Even though some of the ladies are a little sidetracked, thanks to Jesse (ahem! You know who you are!) we've been having some fun times. The August Sneaks are up! Some of the kits are very limited, so be sure to reserve yours early. The Ribbon Kit and the Card Kit are new to LPS. (I can't wait to get my hands on that Collage Press paper!) We also have some new products in the kit additions for August as well....the new Shimmerz Spritz and the Blingz are both brand new products that you'll find in two of the Kit Additions.

Don't forget to set aside some scrappy time in July to join us for the LPS Summer crop! The DT is working hard behind the scenes to bring another awesome crop to you! The fun starts at 6:00 pm on the 17th and runs all through the weekend until 5:00 pm on the 19th. We'll be celebrating LPS'7th Birthday as well during this crop so there will be lots of fun prizes-be sure not to miss out!
